My Reading Journey
To document my reading is to document my soul.
Do you remember why or how you started reading every book you own? I certainly don't. And I own hundreds of books.
Recently, I have become more conscious about the why behind my reading. I'm no longer a young lad in my early twenties who could spend entire weekends and long evenings reading books. But between here and then, a lot of books have passed under these eyes. I developed a taste for the books I like: fantasy and science fiction as a default, sprinkled with contemporary ones, and seasoned with poetry. Yes, I - the bearded guy who almost always wears black and lifts at the gym - own a few poetry books, too.
I read Mistborn and Warbreaker over a decade ago. I remember their vibe, and a little of what I felt after reading them. But I cannot remember how I got into them in the first place, and that one is gone for good. Had I been documenting back then, I could look back now and say, "yeah, that's right! Such and such got me into this book!"
So that ends today. I am starting this page to document "Why I picked it up" and "What I took away from it" for every book I read from here on. The book I am on now stays at the top, the queue sits underneath, and finished books go below that. I also intend to create separate posts and YouTube videos for each one.

Why I picked it up: Same as warbreaker. Don't remember.

- Why I picked it up: To follow up on the first book. I was hooked by the ending and wanted to see what Vin does next.

- Why I picked it up: To complete the series. I had to read what happens next.
- Mistborn: The Alloy of Law, by Brandon Sanderson
- Why I picked it up: Saw a complete package of Mistborn era 2 and had to buy it. It's been a while since those books came out and I never picked them up. It was time.

Warbreaker, Brandon Sanderson 2009
Why I Picked it up: Originally read it over ten years ago. So, don't remember. But I believe it was a recommendation in a book store after I had finished reading the Sword of Truth series.
What is left me with: Warbreaker teaches how to write villains that feel like people. It also teaches how to feel right on the wrong side of the story. It took Vivenna half the book to understand right from wrong.
