Today I opened my inbox to reveal an update from the Lifeline game team! I believe I haven’t received one of those for over six years!

You can’t imagine the joy I felt to realize the next lifeline game is still slated for 2021 and that it even has a working title! The next lifeline game’s working title is Beside You in Time.

This email comes to us weeks after I published my interview with the team, where they answered lots of fan questions.

The fact that the lifeline team chose to send that email now, right as quarter four of the year is beginning, suggests that the next lifeline game might release during the US holidays.

But that’s just speculation on my part. What do you think?

Here’s an excerpt from the newsletter about the game:

On that front, Dave is hard at work on the next Taylor story! Colin and I are having a blast catching the early writing as it comes in, zingers and all. The working title is Beside You in Time and we’re still on target to release this year. We will pick up right where Halfway to Infinity left off, following our intrepid student astronaut right into the next l̶i̶f̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶r̶e̶a̶t̶e̶n̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶c̶r̶i̶s̶i̶s̶ … adventure. If it’s been a while since you played the Taylor games, now is a great time to get back in and catch back up! - Colin Liotta, Lifeline newsletter

I must admit, I didn’t replay Halfway to Infinity in years! Now that a new Lifeline game is on the horizon, I definitely intend to write reviews for all games, too. So, I need to replay them all! So exciting to dive back into those stories.

I also recently purchased an Apple Watch to monitor my health and exercise better. It will be interesting to try the games on it for the first time!

Translations

In his email, Colin says that the quality of the translations is “everything” in the lifeline games. I totally understand that. The game has never been translated to Hebrew – my mother language – and I believe it will be exciting to make that happen while maintaining Taylor’s Gender ambiguity.

The problem with Hebrew and other Semite languages is that even phrases like “I think” are gendered. There’s a male and female version of it. But it can be done without sounding overly robotic, I think.

Ads or Paid Lifeline Game?

Colin said this about the next lifeline game:

And in case you’re wondering—we’re not trying any free-to-play stuff with the Lifeline games. They’ll all be standalone games without any distractions to take you out of the story. - Colin Liotta, Lifeline Newsletter

I, for one, am delighted to hear this! I much rather pay for a game once and enjoy it than have ads shoved in my eyes whenever I try to click something.

What do you think?

I’m so excited to hear more about the game as things progress. For better or worse, we have less than four months to wait until we reunite with Taylor again!

Let me know what you’re excited about in the comments!
