Increasing traffic to your blog doesn’t mean that you have to wait for Google’s SEO to show your articles in search results. Nevertheless, there’s one core idea I want you to keep in mind as you go through this list: Your content’s goal matters.

If you genuinely help people through your words, you’ll see progress. But if you do everything I say here, and your content is clickbait or self-promotional — you’ll see people running in the other direction.

With that in mind — here are some more ways to increase traffic for free!

Capture Email Subscribers

Email subscribers could be the difference between a successful launch and a complete failure. That’s why you want to try and catch email subscriptions when people visit your website.

If you don’t do that, you cannot know if that person will ever land on your website again.

You could use free services like ConvertKit (free plan) or Mailchimp.

Send Browser Notifications

Some services allow you to create an opt-in to browser notifications on your website. Those services will allow you to send push notifications to people’s browsers like those you get on your phone.

They can either ignore it or click it to get to your latest post.

Share Your Articles on Social Media

You could easily share your articles on Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, and more platforms that allow direct linking (Instagram excluded).

You don’t even need to be shy about it. Post multiple times within reasonable time windows to not spam people and make sure people are not missing out.

Not every relevant person will see your tweet the first time you send it.

Also, you could reach more focused audiences when using hashtags. You’ll need to research the ones relevant to your audience.

Guest Post On Other Blogs

Ultimately, your blog is about helping other people. It’s not about you making money, which would be awesome. Instead, it’s about them getting a good answer to their questions or an entertaining experience.

When you look at it from this perspective, it’s a no-brainer to go and share your knowledge on other people’s platforms. You’re working together to educate your audience.

This way, those audiences can get to know you and either sign up for updates on your email list or follow you on social media.

Armed with this new perspective, it’s your responsibility to research similar blogs in your niche and ask to guest post with them.

Pin Your Articles on Pinterest

Using a tool like Canva, you can create beautiful pin visuals for free and share them on Pinterest.

Don’t be fooled by Pinterest’s social media network perception — it’s a search engine. And as such, it will index your pins once you let them marinate for a while on your board and start showing them to people.
